Taking the trail less traveled to find stillness 🗺️🌲🥾

Hello Reader!

Last week was both challenging and expensive. We broke a monitor while traveling, discovered my laptop was unrepairable, and had perhaps the most expensive buffet brunch on the planet! A new laptop will arrive next week, and even though all my data is gone, I'm a little excited about setting it up again and reinstalling my programs and photos! Thankfully, I have learned from my previous tech failures, and nearly everything was backed up to the cloud and external hard drives. Using my work laptop temporarily has also helped me make a few improvements to my processes!

Weeks like this make me reflect on what I truly value: quiet, simplicity, and a sense of space. That’s probably why I’ve been thinking about the places that continue to feel wild.

If you’ve ever pulled up to a trailhead only to find 46 other cars already there (and someone blasting music from their tailgate), you’re not alone. We love the outdoors because they’re wild, quiet, and real—but increasingly, the “best-known” spots feel a little… theme-park-y. So this week, I’m sharing a few of my favorite under-the-radar places to explore—the kind of spots where you might hear birdsong instead of Bluetooth speakers.

Where the Wild Still Feels Wild

If you’ve ever pulled up to a trailhead only to find 46 other cars already there (and someone blasting music from their tailgate), you’re not alone. We love the outdoors because they’re wild, quiet, and real—but more and more, the “best-known” spots feel a little… theme-park-y. So this week, I’m sharing a few of my favorite under-the-radar places to explore—the kind of spots where you might hear birdsong instead of Bluetooth speakers. Check out my latest blog post for tips and tricks on finding the roads less traveled.

Photo of the Week

We took a motorcycle ride to Jupiter Beach along A1A on the coast. The water was stunning! Capturing the right balance of color, brightness, saturation, and vibrance to illustrate what I saw was a challenge, but I think this is pretty close!

💡 Tip of the Week

How to scout a quiet trail: Use AllTrails filters + local hiking forums. Look for anything rated 3.5 stars or lower—sometimes people downvote trails just because they’re not paved, which is perfect for solitude seekers. Read through the reviews to see if the trail is what you're looking for.

What's next?

It’s back to our previous campground for a quick mail and package run (you’d be amazed at how much stuff can accumulate when your mailbox has coordinates). Jody has a work trip coming up, so I’ll be flying solo for a few days, which means I’ll either find deep inner peace… or start talking to squirrels. TBD.

PS: Thank you to everyone who responded to last week's poll! Your answers have helped me further shape the new freebie I'm designing, and (fingers crossed) I should have it ready to share with all of you next week. I'd love to hear your thoughts before I release it into the wild!

Until next week!
